What would Jesus click? Mac or PC?

Jesus would totally use a Mac. Here’s why-

  • Macs are basically immune to viruses. Viruses are like sin. Jesus was sinless. No brainer.
  • Microsoft Vista was clearly the work of Satan. Jesus would want no part in that.
  • The apple stores are clearly the closest thing to heaven on earth.
  • Macs are so simple even a child can use them. But also so powerful an entire movie can be edited on them. Simple yet powerful. And life changing. Like the gospel.
  • Macs get to the point. Like Jesus.
  • Macs get the job done. Like Jesus.
  • Jesus wouldn’t want to waste time waiting to download drivers, he would value efficiency to accomplish his mission.
  • Bill Gates is the richest man in the world. And we all know where the rich end up.
  • Jesus would totally love to work the genius bar and do nothing but solve people’s problems all day.
  • Half of the dudes that work at Apple stores look like Jesus anyway.
  • Steve Jobs does not approve of porn apps for the iphone. Jesus would want to support that.
  • Macs work so well together and sync up and communicate so well. It’s like there is a Mac spirit that oversees all Macs. Jesus would like that.

Then again, maybe Jesus would be a PC. Totally.

  • Jesus said ‘pick up your cross and follow me’ implying the Christian life is hard and takes work. And time. And investment.  And constant maintenance. Much like maintaining a PC. He would not want to misrepresent the Christian life as being easy.
  • He would love the marketing campaign with the slogan ‘Lord, you got a Dell!’ although he would seek to represent all PC manufacturers.
  • Jesus said “I am the Gateway”. Basically.
  • Jesus wouldn’t mind having to download drivers to make things work since he could use that metaphor: “I am the driver, your software will not work without me”.
  • He would despise the hip and cool scene of being in the mac club. He would want to hang out with the prostitutes, drunkards and heathens. Basically all PC users that can’t afford macs.
  • Jesus would love the idea of all sorts of different brands and models of hardware and software working that come from all different manufacturers and countries coming together in harmonious working order. And when something would break he would use it as a picture of what sin does to harmony and co-existence.
  • Steve Jobs is clearly the antichrist.
  • Jesus would totally embrace Dell’s decision to move all their help to India since A) It would provide an awesome analogy of the mighty falling and being greatly humbled and B) he would love to reach everybody in India anyway.
  • Mac is too proud, PC’s are humble. Humility is Jesus like. Pride is not.
  • People who don’t own a mac feel left out. Jesus loves the ‘left out’ types that always get picked last for the team.

Maybe Jesus would fool us all. And use a Linux.

dude! I was just going to say how linux would be his obvious choice…but again you outwitted this reader. After all, Ubuntu means kindness. And in linux land, you don’t download drivers, you write them, then compile them – Jesus helps those who help themselves. Almost everything for linux is open source – Jesus is all about freedom. Not to mention that open source means collaboration and building international coding relationships to make some arcane piece of hardware work. Speaking of, Jesus hates waste, so the ability to make lame old hardware keep working today means one less 5.25″ floppy drive in the landfill, polluting his good green energy star compliant earth. It also takes the the hardware combinatorics of mere Windows users and makes it grow exponentially with a hundreds of variations on the operating system itself. Jesus likes growth. And operating.

Thanks for the mid-work-day smile as I run code on linux, write this response under windows, and listen to itunes.

Linux+Windows+itunes? You are a model of the Trinity in action. Oh, and thumbs up on ‘Jesus helps those who help themselves’. That’s my favorite scripture.

Where does Google fit in this model of spirituality? Isn’t Google Android defeating Apple IOS prophesied in Revelations, something about the Great Whore?

There’s a book about that . . . sort of. I find it amusing how theologians and computer nerd pronounce Ubuntu differently.

Were you being sarcastic about ‘Jesus helps those who help themselves’ scripture? Because it’s not in scripture…just FYI.

    Great Post.

Thanks Jason. That’s definitely in scripture. It’s in the old testament. The book of Hezekiah. My favorite book.
