Jonathan,

Thanks for your challenge, and I appreciate your idealism.

And yes, I think Jesus agrees with my statement. In this fallen world, they are dynamic and complex realities. I wish it were 'simple', but it's not.

If you were in a situation where there was a crazy person, an old lady and you, and the crazy said," I am going to beat and kill this old lady and you better not stop me. If you try you better kill me." What would you do? What is the thing Jesus have you do? I think the most loving thing you can do is beat and possibly kill the man and protect the helpless and innocent lady.

Here's another thought- were we to love and feed Hitler as he massacred Jews? Or was it loving to stop him?

It's not that simple my friend.

Do you really think Jesus agrees with your statement, "that war and politics are highly dynamic and complex realities" ? It is pretty simple. Jesus said more often "do not be afraid." If we were not afraid to love the world would be a much better place and we would not have to worry about 'the real bad guys' mentioned above. After all, if your enemies are hungry feed them and you will heap burning coals upon their foreheads.

It always sounds great to be "anti-war".
I'm sure you've seen "ANOTHER WOMAN FOR PEACE!" bumper stickers. If only enough people saw those stickers...
In this fallen world, it's like the people partying on the roof tops waiting for the alien ships in "Independence Day". (from what I hear)
Easy targets for the real bad guys.

Even at 'conservative' UCSD -where I was going in 2003 there was a huge banner at the art facility that said 'STOP AMERICAN IMPERIALISM!" Um...what?

P.S. where's my unreleased Dryve song I was promised?
