Thanks steve. Indeed they are something to hold on to. It's like a 'mountain top' experience can be had in the most unusual places when we least expect it. And it's those resonating experiences that give clarity and a new perspective when we enter back into the '9 to 5' of everyday life.

This is excellent. I love when people can look beyond the surface of the question of whether or not there's any new artistic ground to be discovered out there. It reminded me of a poetry reading by Louise Gluck and Franz Wright that I attended a few years ago. I wrote about it back then, but the poets' answers to this same question (from the standpoint of poetry, of course) mirrors much of what you said here. Wright said that poetry has resonance and shows him that everyone has had similar experiences — only the techniques for describing those experiences are new. Gluck said those new descriptions can restore meaning or breathe new life into old things that have become stale. And I think knowing that there's little chance of something new out there, for me, makes those moments of resonance and restored meaning even more precious. They are something to hold on to.
